A plaited loaf may look complicated, but it is surprisingly simple.
- Divide your dough into three equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a long, even strand of equal thickness.
- Place the strands side by side and pinch them together at one end.
- Cross the right strand over the middle.
- Then cross the left strand over the new middle strand.
- Continue this pattern until you reach the end.
- Pinch the ends together and tuck them underneath.
Place the plaited loaf on a baking tray, cover and leave it to double in size before baking.
With a little practice, you will achieve a beautifully shaped loaf that looks as impressive as it tastes.
