San Francisco Style Bread

This delicious bread has the flavour of a sourdough without having to make a complicated sourdough starter!

Instructions
  1. Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix to make a soft, smooth dough. Knead for 5 minutes in an electric mixer, or for 10 minutes by hand until the dough is elastic.
  2. Shape the dough into a circle, cut one line down the middle and 4 lines off this on each side.
  3. Place onto a greased baking sheet and leave to prove until double in size (about 60 minutes). Meanwhile preheat the oven to 190°C.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes.

  1. I was very curious to find out if a bread can taste like a sourdough loaf without actually using sourdough. Just WOW, this bread is fantastic. If you like sourdough, but not actually using sourdough, this is it!!
